ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Saint Mary's College of Maryland 64-37 on Wednesday evening.
Lauren Klieber led the Knights with 18 points.
Emily DuPont followed up with 11 points.
Terea Hunt led Neumann with nine rebounds. All 11 Knights grabbed at least one rebound and 10 of the 11 connected on a basket.
The teams went back and forth in the first quarter with four lead changes and three tied scores. Neumann held the largest lead of the first 10 minutes with a five-point advantage, 12-8, after two free throws by
Aubrie Breisblatt. A layup by Breisblatt as the buzzer sounded gave the Knights a 15-14 edge heading into the second quarter.
The Seahawks scored the first basket of the second quarter for a one-point lead. A free throw by
Lindsay Holden tied the game at 16 and started a 12-0 run for the Knights as they built a 27-16 advantage. A jumper by Klieber as the buzzer sounded for halftime put Neumann up 36-22 at the break.
The Knights held a double-digit lead throughout the second half and cruised to the 64-37 non-conference win.
Neumann (4-5) heads to Ursinus on Friday evening for the final game before Christmas. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 PM.
