ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Marywood University 76-63 on Wednesday evening in Atlantic East Conference action.
Prior to the game, the Knights honored
KJ Speller and
Jake Giles. Speller led the team with 23 points.
Jalen Vaughns tallied 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Ryan Starr sunk 14 points and handed out six assists.
Tony James added 11 points.
Speller hit the first basket of the contest. The Pacers tied the game at two and then took a 3-2 lead with a free throw two-and-half minutes into the contest. A jumper by
TJ Lewis put the Knights up 4-3 and start 12-point run for the Knights. Midway through the first half, Marywood pulled to within three, 16-13. Neumann answered with the next 11 points to extend its lead to 14, 27-13. The Knights took a 39-23 lead into halftime.
The Knights held a double-digit lead throughout the second half to come away with the 76-63 win and retain first place in the conference.
Neumann (15-6, 7-1 Atlantic East) will the road for the final four games of the regular season. The Knights head to Immaculata on Saturday with tip-off slated for 3:00 PM.
