Women’s Basketball Falls in OT on Senior Night

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Marywood University 73-70 in overtime in an Atlantic East Conference matchup on Wednesday evening.
 
Prior to the game, the Knights honored their four seniors: Aijea Fowler, Chelsea Keebler, Dymond Collins and Tierra Harris.
 
Allyson Wills and Terea Hunt led the Knights, netting 17 points each. Collins and Madison Stewart each tallied nine. Stewart also handed out six assists. Hunt grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
 
The game came down to overtime. The teams traded baskets and three more tied scores, the final one being tied at 67 with 1:30 on the clock. The Pacers scored the next five points for a 72-67 lead with 40 seconds remaining. A three-pointer by Hunt brought Neumann back with within two. A Pacers free-throw with 17 seconds left made it a three-point game. The Knights had the final shot to tie the game but could not get the ball to go and fell 73-70.
 
Marywood held the pace of the game for most of the first half and took a 30-26 lead into halftime. Neumann started to chip its way into the deficit and with 3:06 left in the third quarter tied the game at 39 on a layup by Hunt.
 
A three-pointer by Aijea Fowler with 1:09 left in the third put the Knights up 46-44. Neumann would net six points in the final minute to take a 52-44 lead into the final quarter.
 
The Knights built a lead as large as 13, 49-46, with 5:29 left in the fourth quarter. Neumann could not find the basket again in regulation, including the last two changes of regulation, and Marywood scored the final 13 points to force overtime.   
 
Neumann (9-13, 4-5 Atlantic East) will head to Immaculata on Saturday for more conference action. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
