GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Neumann University softball dropped a pair of games at Stockton University on Tuesday afternoon. The Ospreys won by scores of 8-0 in five innings and 11-6.
In the first game, Stockton jumped on the board early with four runs in the first inning. The Ospreys added a run in the third, fourth and two in the fifth for the 8-0 final.
Ashley Mazzeo pitched for the Knights, allowing eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits over 4.1 innings.
In the nightcap,
Emily DuPont started the game and went 3.0 innings in the no decision. The freshman allowed five runs on six hits.
Ashlynne Scardino took the loss, allowing six runs, two earned, on six hits.
Stockton plated three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Neumann got on the board in the third as
Bri Reim walked and scored on a wild pitch. The Ospreys added two runs in the third for a 5-1 lead.
With the bases loaded in the fourth,
Ashley Leicht hit a double to score Reim and
Emily Reid. The Knights used a passed ball, wild pitch and an error to take a 6-5 lead after the top of the fourth.
The Ospreys took advantage of an error in the fifth and took back the lead, 8-6. Stockton scored three more runs in the sixth for an 11-6 final.
Neumann (5-12) will host Stevenson on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is 3:00 PM.
