Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Beaten by Blazers

FREDERICK, Md. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team couldn't solve a tough Hood College team on Tuesday afternoon, dropping the non-conference road contest by a score of 20-8.

Lindsey Fagan paced the Neumann attack with four goals on the day, while Brylin Adams (1 g, 1 a) and Maggie Blemings (2 g) each picked up two points. Catriona Corrigan got the start in goal and picked up 10 saves in the loss.

Aiming to earn its second consecutive road victory, the Knights travelled south to Maryland for the non-conference tilt. Neumann struggled to find its legs early, as Hood took the play to the visitors in the opening ten minutes. The Blazers found the back of the net four times without reply from the Knights to take a 4-0 lead with 4:47 left in the frame. Neumann would come to life late in the frame though, tallying twice in the final two minutes to cut the deficit in half. Adams broke the shutout at the 2:08 mark, and Alison Mallon gave the visitors all the momentum moving into the second stanza with a goal with five seconds left in the period to make it 4-2.

The Knights got even closer in the opening minutes of the second quarter, as Fagan scored 3:30 into the frame to make it 4-3. Hood responded with a pair of goals to make it 6-3 midway through the period, but again Neumann had an answer, as Brosky and Fagan tickled the twine under a minute apart to cut the lead to 6-5 with 4:47 remaining in the half. However, things would fall apart for the visitors the rest of the quarter, as another 4-0 run from the Blazers widened their advantage to five goals at 10-5 with 30 seconds left. Fagan was able to retaliate with her third goal of the game with just 11 seconds in the frame, but the Knights trailed 10-6 heading to halftime.

Fagan continued to roll early in the third with a goal to cut the lead to 10-7 at the 11:40 mark, but that would be the last Neumann highlight for a long period of time. Hood totally dominated the rest of the period, recording five unanswered goals to take a commanding 15-7 lead. The Knights again scored late in the frame with a Jayana Murray marker with seven seconds left, but the visitors trailed 15-8 moving to the fourth.

The final frame would be all Blazers as they sealed the comfortable win. Hood tacked on five more goals and shut the Knights out the rest of the way to clinch the 20-8 victory.

Neumann (4-3) will have two days to get ready for its next contest, a home matchup with Wilkes University. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
