RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team opened Atlantic East Conference action against Cabrini University on Friday afternoon. The Knights fell to the Cavaliers 13-3.
Marcus White went 3-for-3 with two solo homeruns in the game.
Nate Griffin started the game on the mound and went 5.0 innings. He allowed eight runs on seven hits.
Vic Mejia went 2.0 innings in relief and allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits.
Pat Leighton pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Cabrini got on the board first with s solo homerun in the second inning. White tied the game at one with his first long ball in the fourth.
The Cavaliers hit two homeruns in the fifth as they plated seven runs to take an 8-1 lead. Cabrini added two more runs in the sixth.
The Knights scored a run in the seventh as
Ryan Lopez crossed home plate on a groundout by
Zach Ray.
Down 13-3 in the ninth, White hit his second homerun of the game for the 13-3 final.
Neumann (4-7, 0-1 Atlantic East) will host Cabrini for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12:00 PM.
