ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team fell in a pair of games at Eastern University on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles won by scores of 5-0 and 4-2.
In the first game, Eastern plated a pair of runs in the first, fifth and a solo homerun in the sixth for the 5-0 final.
Ashlynne Scardino went 6.0 innings in the circle and allowed five runs on 10 hits and struck out three.
The Knights took an early lead in game two as
Ashley Leicht scored on a single by
Elizabeth Shire in the top of the first. The Eagles scored single runs in the third through sixth innings.
In the home half of the sixth,
Aubrie Breisblatt singled to score
Olivia Ammon for a 3-2 score. An Eastern solo homerun un the bottom of the sixth led to the 4-2 final.
Ammon pitched 6.0 innings in the loss. The freshman allowed four runs on nine hits and struck out four.
Taylor Portzline and
Bri Reim each had two hits in the game.
Neumann (6-17) will return home on Tuesday when it hosts Elizabethtown for a pair of games. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
