ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team fell to Penn State Brandywine 6-0 in a single game on Thursday afternoon.
The game was called due to lightning in the bottom of the seventh. Due to the fact Neumann was down and did not complete the inning, all stats reverted back to the end of the sixth inning. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to the storms coming through the area.
The Lions scored in the odd innings of the contest, scoring two in the first, one in the third and three in the fifth.
Elizabeth Shire had two of Neumann's four hits in the game.
Ashley Mazzeo started the game and went 4.2 innings. She allowed six runs, just two earned, on eight hits. The junior struck out four.
Courtney McKenna pitched the final 1.1 innings did not allow a hit.
Neumann (10-20) will host Marywood on Tuesday in an Atlantic East doubleheader. The Knights will honor their seniors prior to the 3:00 PM first pitch.
