ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team wrapped up regular season action with an 8-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy University on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Knights clinch the No. 2 seed in the postseason after going 4-1 in AEC play.
The Knights started the afternoon up 2-0 after the Griffins had to forfeit third doubles and sixth singles. Neumann went on to take the rest of the doubles points. The duo of
Daniel Bonowski and
Justin McCullen won first doubles 8-0.
Sean Flannery and
Vince Landis took second doubles 8-3.
Bonowski won his first flight 6-0, 6-1. McCullen took second singles 6-1, 6-1. Landis had to battle at third singles. After dropping the first set 6-3, he came back for a 6-0, 10-6 win.
Dylan Stiteler rounded out the afternoon with a 7-5, 6-3 win at fifth singles.
Neumann finishes the regular season 6-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Postseason action gets underway on Wednesday with semifinals action.
