ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's team got into the win column with a 1-0 win over Notre Dame of Maryland University Wednesday evening.
The Knights held the pace-of-play throughout the game and outshot the Gators 38-0 overall and 13-0 on net. Neumann's pressure in the offensive zone led to 15 corner kicks.
After playing a scoreless first half,
Liz Purcell broke through in the 60th minute off a pass from the corner from
Rebecca Spence.
Leona Macrina started the game in net for the Knights
Lex Navarro picked up her first win in net, seeing time in the net in the second half. The two keepers and the defenders played a key role in keeping the ball in the offensive zone for the majority of the contest.
Morghan Stiles led the Knights with six shots.
Alexa McCracken notched five shots. Spence and
Jaclyn Burmood each added four. Thirteen Knights had at least one shot in the game.
Neumann (1-3-2) will remain home play home on Saturday as it hosts Ramapo. Action is slated to get underway at 4:00 PM.
