ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 game to Goucher College on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Leona Macrina made two saves in net. Alexa McCracken had Neumann's two shots on goal.
 
The Gophers kept the ball in the Knights zone for most of the first half and had all seven shots of the first 45 minutes. Six of those shots were forced high and wide of the net as Neumann's defense didn't let Goucher too close to the net. The one save for Macrina in the first half came from a shot outside the box.
 
As the first half was winding down, the Knights started to gain control of the ball and took the momentum into the second half. The second half was much more even as each team had five shots and two corner kicks.
 
In the first minute of the second, McCracken put the ball on net from just inside the box for Neumann's first shot of the contest.
 
Goucher broke through in the 62^nd minute for the 1-0 lead.
 
In the 78^th minute, Rebecca Spence had a shot blocked and end up on McCraken's foot. McCracken had her second good look of the half, but once again the Gopher's keeper made the save.
 
The Knights corner kicks came back to back with under 10 minutes remaining, but Neumann could not get the ball to fall into the back of the net.
 
Neumann (2-6-2) will host Washington Adventist on Thursday night under the lights beginning at 7:00 PM.
