UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann University Men's Ice Hockey team traveled up to New York state and suffered a 5-0 shutout loss to No. 2 Utica University on Friday evening a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) matchup.
After an evenly played first few minutes of the game, Utica scored its first goal with 6:50 left in the first period. The Pioneers added two more in the second, one just 29 seconds in, and the other with 2:39 left, to pull ahead by three. Utica closed out the game with two more markers in the final period at 8:41 and 16:01.
Cole DeFazio made 46 saves in an effort to keep the Knights close.
Tyler Kulas led the offensive effort with four shots on goal and went 10-for-16 in the faceoff circle.
PJ Demitrio and
Hunter Litman each added two shots on goal of their own.
Neumann (6-9, 4-7 UCHC) once again takes on Utica University tomorrow night. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
