GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team picked up a key conference victory over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday afternoon by a final score 2-1.
In the first half, Neumann was able to tally 11 shots. The first goal came in the 32
nd minute when
Alex Pobre was able to capitalize off a corner kick for the Knights. Neumann's offense kept the pressure on the Griffins throughout the first half.
Eleven minutes into the second half Gwynedd Mercy was able to find the equalizer, evening the match at one apiece. In the 76
th minute, Pobre got his second goal of the game off an assist from
Christian Worthington putting the Knights ahead for good.
Seth Walker was in goal for Neumann and came up with three saves.
Gianni Smith put pressure on the Griffins with three shots on goal.
Neumann (7-4-2, 4-0-1 Atlantic East) will travel to Arlington, Virginia on Wednesday evening to take on Marymount University in a conference match up. This game is slated for 7:00 PM.
