ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's hockey team shutout Hilbert College 5-0 on Friday evening in non-conference action.
Kaila Booth scored her first two goals as a Knight.
Jasmine Martinez handed out two assists.
Michelle Winand-Bacon made 16 saves for the shutout win, including two using her head on the penalty kill.
After a scoreless first period, three Knights scored their first goals of the season for a 3-0 lead after two periods. Booth opened the scoring with her first goal of the season at the 4:29 mark of the second. The sophomore picked up the puck at the blueline, skated in and shot for a 1-0 lead.
Charlotte Labre followed with a goal at the 12:40 that she deposited on a rebound.
Kyra Filighera and Martinez tallied the assists.
Gabby Massa put the Knights up 3-0 as she received the puck from
Georgia Wunder at the blue line, got around the Hilbert defense and scored.
Taking advantage of a 5-on-3 power play midway through the third,
Lian Sydorowicz crossed the puck to
Jamiyah Alexander who put the puck in the back of the net for a 4-0 lead. Martinez picked up her second assist on the goal. In the final minute of play, Booth skated the puck down the ice and lifted the puck over the Hawkes goalie for a 5-0 score.
Neumann (3-3) will host Hilbert again tomorrow afternoon with the puck dropping at 2:00 PM.
