ASTON, PA. – The Neumann University Women's Volleyball team will travel down to Virginia for the Atlantic East Conference Championship match this Saturday against Marymount University.
The No. 2 seeded Knights had a regular season record of 4-1 and earned first round bye. In the semifinals, Neumann defeated Gwynedd Mercy University, 3-1. After falling in the first set, 25-22, they took the next three by scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 26-24. The Knights were powered by
Regan Hickey's 24 kills.
Dani Smith helped with 44 assists and three blocks.
Claudia Bournazel led with 18 digs and
Tori Burgess had four service aces.
Overall this season Hickey has amassed 360 kills in 28 matches, She also leads the team in service aces with 56. Smith has contributed 910 assists.
Lauren Garvey added with 345 kills.
Claudia Bournazel fuels the defense with 426 digs, followed by Hickey's 339.
Jules Dill has 48 blocks while
Naye Cruz and Garvey adds to the Knights' presence at the net with 38 and 24 blocks, respectively.
Marymount punched their ticket to the final on the strength of a 3-0 semi-final win over Marywood. After a perfect 5-0 regular season, they received a bye in the first round, then taking care of the Pacers by scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-19.
In their only meeting during the regular season, the Neumann fell to the Saints, 3-0. All three sets were tight with scores of 25-20, 25-22, and 25-18. Hickey powered the offense with 10 kills while Bournazel had 13 digs.
The match is scheduled for a 5:00 PM start in Arlington, Va.
