LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team, in the opening game of the F&M Tournament, defeated Penn State Harrisburg by a final score of 75-51 on Saturday night.
The Knights started off on fire with an 8-0 run over the first two minutes of the contest. After giving up a single bucket, they started a brand-new run, this time of 14 points, capped off by an
Emily DuPont layup. At the end of the first quarter, Neumann had a 24-4 lead.
The second quarter was a completely different story as the Nittany Lions went on an 18-0 run over a five-minute stretch to pull within four. Over the last 1:28 of the half, the Knights surged ahead by 13, scoring the last nine points. At the break, Neumann led 37-24.
Coming back out of the locker room, the Knights continued to extend their advantage with a 14-5 run, giving them a 21-point lead at 51-30 with 3:47 remaining in the period. They were able to maintain that lead through the end of the quarter, heading into the fourth with a 57-37 lead. A lead that wouldn't change much for the rest of the game.
Terea Tourk led the way for the Knights with 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
Emily DuPont also had 18 points and five rebounds while
Lauren Klieber had 14 points and eight boards.
Jacqueline Wardrop added 13 points and five assists as Neumann shot 49.1% for the game.
Neumann(2-0) will return to action tomorrow evening at 5:30 PM against Lancaster Bible College to close out the tournament.
