Knights Fall to Aggies in Back-and-Forth Game

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell in a close game at Delaware Valley University, 56-54, on Wednesday evening.
 
Emily DuPont and Lauren Klieber led the Knights with 16 points each. DuPont added 12 boards for a double-double while Klieber tallied seven boards. Terea Tourk added 12 points.
 
The game featured seven tied scores and 15 lead changes. The first quarter literally went back and forth as the team's traded baskets throughout the 10 minutes. The Aggies held a 13-12 edge at the first break.
 
Klieber hit a layup to start the second quarter and the back and forth continued. Tied at 22 midway through the quarter, Delaware Valley went on a 10-5 run before halftime for a 32-27 lead at the break.
 
Coming out of halftime, the Knights scored the first five points to tie the game at 32 and again the teams traded baskets. Tied at 39, Neumann went on a 7-1 run to take a 46-40 lead. The Knights held a 48-42 lead heading into the final quarter.
 
Leading 50-46 two minutes into the fourth, the teams went on a three-minute scoring drought. The Aggies scored a layup with five minutes on the clock and then hit a three-pointer with three minutes to take a 51-50 edge. The teams went back and forth again and Delaware Valley held a 55-54 lead with one minute left in regulation.
 
Klieber had a chance in the final seconds but could not get the ball to drop. The Aggies hit one-of-two from the line in the final second for the 56-54 final.
 
Neumann (5-3) heads to York (Pa.) on Saturday for a non-conference contest beginning at 3:00 PM.
