ASTON, Pa – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team defeated Lebanon Valley College 69-49 on Wednesday evening in the season opener.
Lauren Klieber led the Knights with 27 points and eight rebounds.
Emily DuPont followed up with 15 points and
Aubrie Breisblatt added 10.
Terea Tourk handed out six assists and grabbed six boards.
The Knights started off quick with a 6-0 run setting the tempo for the game. Neumann continued to build on its lead throughout the half. Two free throws by Klieber with 3:57 left in the first quarter put the Knights up by double-digits, 16-6. A layup by Tourk in the final seconds of the first half send Neumann to the locker room with a 44-22 lead.
The Knights largest lead came midway through the third quarter, 54-28, after a layup by Breisblatt. Neumann maintained the 22-point advantage heading into the final quarter and cruised through the fourth for the 69-49 win.
Neumann (1-0) will participate in the Franklin and Marshall tournament over the weekend. The Knights will face Penn State Harrisburg at 5:30 P.M. on Saturday night.
