ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball team suffered a 59-53 loss against Susquehanna University in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.
Neumann got off to a quick start, jumping up by eight points over the first five minutes of the game. By the halfway point of the first half, the lead was at 10, as the River Hawks kept pace. After the Knights went up 24-13 with 7:31 left, Susquehanna went on a 10-2 run to close out the period, dropping their deficit to three.
After the break, Neumann surged ahead again thanks to a 15-2 stretch over the first 6:20 of the half, capped off by a
Ja'bri White old-school three point play. From there, the River Hawks slowly chipped away at the lead. They took their first lead of the game with 4:15 left in the game, extending it as high as five with two minutes left. The Knights pulled within two with 56 seconds left but they couldn't complete the comeback.
Jalen Vaughns led Neumann with 17 points and seven rebounds. White had 11, while
TJ Lewis and
Kyle Thompson had 10 each.
David Vazquez came off the bench and had two steals and four assists.
Neumann(2-9) will be back in action on Friday, December 29
th as they take on host Albright College in the Double Tree Holiday Tournament. The opening tip from Reading will be at 4:00 PM.
