ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Cabrini University 68-49 on Wednesday evening in the final home game of the regular season.
Prior to the Atlantic East contest, the Knights honored
Terea Hunt and
Chelsea Keebler, who played in their final regular season home game.
Hunt finished the game with a double-double; 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Lauren Klieber tallied 22 points, including going 9-for-10 from the line, and nine boards.
Jacqueline Wardrop dropped in eight points.
The Cavaliers came out quick, taking an early 13-2 lead. The Knights answered with a 13-2 run itself to tie the game at 15. Two free throws by Wardrop and a layup by Klieber put Neumann up 19-15 after the first quarter.
Neumann netted the first five points of the second quarter for a 24-15 advantage. After Cabrini scored to make it a 24-17 score, the teams went scoreless for the next three-and-a-half minutes. The Knights took a seven-point lead, 29-22, into halftime.
The third quarter was all Cabrini. Back-to-back three-pointer by the Cavaliers gave them a 32-30 lead with 6:06 on the clock. Cabrini didn't let down as Neumann could not find the basket and built a 47-33 lead as the teams headed into the final quarter.
The Cavaliers used the lead built in the third quarter and kept a double-digit lead en route to the 68-49 win.
Neumann (12-12, 5-6 Atlantic East) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when it heads to Centenary. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
