IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match at Immaculata University on Tuesday evening.
Veryl Burns led the Knights with 15 kills.
TJ McConnell added 10 kills.
Gianni Smith handed out 20 assists and 15 digs.
Christian Johnson added eight assists.
Isaiah Raye-Ryan tallied 10 digs and
Brandon Baskerville finished with nine.
The Mighty Macs took a 4-1 lead to open the match. The Knights used three kills to take a 5-4 advantage. The teams battled back and forth. While holding a 14-13 edge, Immaculata tallied four straight points for an 18-13 lead. Neumann worked its way back to within one, 20-19. The Mighty Macs the scored four points to get to set point. The Knights tallied two points but then Immaculata used a kill to take set one 25-21.
Down 8-6, the Knights scored six straight points to take a 12-8 lead in set two. Trailing by two, 21-19, Neumann tallied four points for a 23-21 edge. The teams ended up being knotted at 24 when a McConnell kill, and a Mighty Mac error gave the Knights a 26-24 set two win.
Immaculata built a 20-12 lead in set three when Neumann scored six points to pull within two, 20-18. The Mighty Macs tallied five of the next six points to take the third set 25-19. Immaculata sued a few short runs in the fourth set for a 25-17 win and 3-1 match win.
Neumann (5-13) is right back on the court tomorrow night when it hosts Drew University beginning at 7:00 PM.
