RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team opened the 2023 season with a 9-0 sweep at Cabrini University on Friday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
The Knights opened the match by taking all three doubles matches. The duo of
Daniel Bonowski and
Vince Landis picked up an 8-0 win at first doubles.
Joe Troilo and
Anthony Carpinella tallied an 8-5 win at second doubles.
Anthony Andrews and
Logan Gorbitz rounded out doubles action with an 8-3 win in the third flight, picking up their first collegiate win.
Landis made quick work at second doubles, winning 6-0, 6-1. Carpinella took his fourth flight in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Bonowski battled at first singles. After falling 6-4 in the first set, he came back to take set two 6-2 and the deciding set 7-6 (10-8).
Troilo came away with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles.
James Leuzzi got his first collegiate win at sixth singles, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Dylan Stiteler rounded out the match with a 7-6 (7-4) win at fifth singles.
Neumann (1-0, 1-0 Atlantic East) will open home action when it hosts Marywood on April 1 in conference action.
