PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team got their record back to .500 after they defeated the Chatham University Cougars by a score of 7-6,in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Neumann wasted little time in getting their offense on the board when at the 12:53 mark, when
Wyatt Belotti and
Sam Nice scored 1:20 apart.
Renzo Garone used a neat
Max Nice feed to take a 3-0 lead before Chatham rattled off two straight to close within a goal after 15 minutes of play.
The second quarter turned out to be a quiet affair. It took until the 2:05 mark for the next strike of the game when
Emmett Wexler scored on a
Matt Morris pass.
Brendan Boschi scored an unassisted goal 49 seconds later to give the Knights a 5-2 lead at the halftime break.
The Cougars scored 2:45 into the third to pull within two but
Justice Brovero responded just under two minutes later. Over the next six minutes, Chatham scored three straight goals to tie the game at six. With 3:29 left in the third, Boschi picked up his second of the game and team-leading 16
th of the season. No one was able to score in the fourth quarter and Neumann was able to pull out the victory.
Boschi was the only multi-point gatherer in today's evenly spread-out attack. He also had five shots on goal, as did Wexler.
Kyle Daly took charge of ground balls with four.
Jake Marchiafava picked up 15 saves to earn the win in goal.
Neumann (4-4) will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Misericordia University. Game time at the Turf Field is scheduled for 4pm.
