Knights Drop Decision to Lycoming

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team suffered a 9-7 loss to non-conference opponent, Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon.

After a feeling out process over the first few minutes of the game, Lycoming struck twice in 22 seconds to take the lead with 7:17 left in the first quarter. About five minutes later, Neumann cut the lead in the half on the man-up when Max Nice scored on a pass from Mike Kiley, making it a 2-1 game at the end of the period.

3:18 into the second, the Warriors took back the two-goal, and extended it seven minutes later. Max Nice scored on a feed from Luke Sykes with 2:31 left but Lycoming responded at the 1:45 mark. With 21 seconds remaining in the half, it was Neumann's Dalton Hofmann for his 13th of the year, from Sam Nice, but again, the Warriors had an answer with four seconds left for a 6-3 advantage at the break.

Lycoming put together the only two goals in the third for a five-goal lead, their largest lead of the game, heading into the final quarter. 41 seconds into the fourth, Kiley fed Kyle Daly for his fifth of the year. Two minutes later, the Warriors put another on the board but with 5:12 left in regulation, Max Nice completed the hat-trick. Emmett Wexler added a goal for Neumann with 1:59 left, and another with 58 seconds left but that would be as close as they would come.

In addition to his hat-trick, Max Nice added three ground balls. Kiley's three assists came with two ground balls. Sean Sykes and Renzo Garone were the strongest Knights' scoopers with seven ground balls each. Additionally, Sykes was fantastic in the face-off department, winning 14 of 19 draws. Jake Marchiafava did all he could to keep the Knights in the game with 16 saves.

Neumann (4-6) will be back in action on April 5th when they open Atlantic East Conference play against Cabrini. The game is scheduled for a 4pm start at Neumann University's Turf Field.
