SELINSGROVE, Pa. –
Wyatt Belotti's hat-trick was not enough as the Neumann Men's Lacrosse dropped a non-conference game against Susquehanna University by a final score of 17-5 on Saturday afternoon.
Neumann took an early 1-0 lead on a
Wyatt Belotti goal 1:18 into the game. Susquehanna equalized a minute and a half later and started a five goal run to lead 5-1 after 15 minutes. Belotti scored to open the second but the River Hawks scored three straight for an 8-2 lead at the half.
Belotti once again scored to start off a quarter but Susquehanna scored eight of the next nine goals to pull away. The lone Knights goal during that run was picked up by
Brendan Boschi, his team-leading twelfth of the year.
Luke Johnson scored his first of the season, with 8:08 remaining, to close out the output for the Knights.
Jake Methlie won 14 of 25 face-offs and picked up a team-leading seven ground balls.
Jake Marchiafava had five ground balls while making 14 saves in the loss. Belotti had five shots on goal and
Vincent Corbino followed with three.
Neumann (2-3) will be back in action on Monday as they host SUNY Potsdam in another non-conference clash. The game is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
