Knights Drop Atlantic East Game to Mighty Macs

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team were handed on 14-5 Atlantic East Conference loss on Tuesday afternoon by the Mighty Macs from Immaculata University.
 
Immaculata got on the board in the first inning using two straight RBI doubles and an RBI groundout for a 3-0 lead. They added four more in the top of the second on a two-run single, an RBI double, and an RBI single. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Andrew Curran rocketed a solo home run over the left field wall, his third homer of the season, getting the Knights on the board.
 
The Mighty Macs added on a two-run single and a sacrifice fly, for a nine-run lead heading to the bottom of the third. With two away, Nick Glebocki singled the left-center and Shawn Vega blasted a two-run shot to left to make it a 10-3 game.
 
Ryan Lopez led off the bottom of the fourth and moved to second when Curran hit a pop fly that was dropped. Thomas Elgrim hit an RBI single to drive in Lopez, pulling the Knights within six. Jonathan Baker followed with a single through the left side of the infield and Brandon Colon drove in Elgrim with an RBI single up the middle, cutting the Immaculata lead to 10-5.
 
After a scoreless fifth and sixth inning, the Mighty Macs scored three in the seventh on an RBI single and a two-run homer. They added one run in the ninth using an RBI single.
 
Baker led the offense for Neumann going 2 for 4. Vega was 1 for 4 with a homer, two RBI, and a run scored. Nick Colon suffered the loss on the mound to drop his record to 1-3.
 
Neumann (8-15, 0-6 Atlantic East) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon for a non-conference match-up against Muhlenberg College. First pitch from Bruder Baseball Field is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
