Knights Lose Back-and-Forth Game Against Marymount

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse were handed a tough 12-10 loss on Wednesday night against their Atlantic East Conference rivals, the Marymount University Saints.

48 seconds into the game, Marymount struck first, then followed four minutes later for a 2-0 lead. Neumann would respond with a four goal run. Renzo Garone got it started after a Kyle Daly feed with 5:49 left in the first. 17 seconds later, Wyatt Belotti tied the game up at two with an assist from Justice Brovero. Over the next two minutes, Belotti scored twice more before the Saints would pop a goal home to pull within one. Daly struck with 37 seconds left to close out the opening period with a 5-3 lead.

Brendan Boschi extended the lead to three just 28 seconds into the second quarter but then it was Marymount's turn for a four-goal run, allowing them to take a 7-6 lead. With 1:27 left in the half, Dalton Hofmann took a pass from Boschi and deposited it into the back of the neck, evening the game at the midway break.

The Knights got back in the goal column 36 seconds into the third thanks to a Garone shot. Max Nice gave Neumann the 2-goal lead at the 8:46 mark but the Saints closed the quarter with three straight to take the lead. They would also score the first two goals of the fourth for a five-goal run. Mike Kiley scored up the man up with 5:53 left in regulation but that is as close as the Knights would come.

Belotti finished with three goals on four shots on goal, and one assist. Boschi had a goal and two assists, while Brovero, Garone, and Daly, each had a goal and an assist. Brovero and Daly each added three ground balls. Owen Avelar made a whopping 14 saves in the crease.
