ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team defeated Immaculata University 5-3 in an Atlantic East Conference semifinal matchup on Thursday afternoon.
The Knights opened the match by taking two-of-three in doubles action.
Logan Gorbitz and
Anthony Andrews battled from a 6-2 deficit at third doubles to take the match 8-6.
The duo of
Anthony Carpinella and
Joe Troilo had a back-and-forth match at second doubles and came away with an 8-7 (7-3) win.
Needing to win three singles matches to advance to the championship, fourth, fifth and sixth singles answered with convincing wins. Carpinella won fourth singles 6-3, 6-2. Gorbitz took fifth singles 6-3, 6-1. Rounding out the winning match was
James Leuzzi at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-4.
Neumann (6-2) will head to Marymount on for the Atlantic East Championship next week.
