Knights Breeze Past Cyclones to Close Regular Season

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team finished the 2023 regular season with a 29-4 win over Atlantic East rival, Centenary University on Wednesday evening.
 
Wyatt Belotti led the onslaught with five goals and six assists. Dalton Hofmann also had a five goal game, adding an assist. Justice Brovero contributed two goals and two assists and Emmett Wexler had a hat-trick and two asissts. Jake Methlie was dominant in face-offs, winning 11 of 13, and Sean Sykes won 10 of 11. Robbie Kay earned his first collegiate win, making two saves.
 
Neumann started off the game by scoring the first four goals in a 2:31 span. Brendan Boschi, Belotti, Max Nice, and Mike Kiley, combined for the 4-0 lead. After Centenary got their first goal at the 11:51 mark, the Knights rattled off nine goals in a row to pull away. Wexler and Belotti scored twice. M. Nice, , Hofmann, Brovero, Luke Sykes, and Kyle Daly had one each for a 13-1 lead.
 
Neumann continued to pour it on in the second as Hofmann, Belotti, and Brovero scored in a five minute span before the Cyclones broke the 12-goal run. With 7:12 left in the half, Matt Morris used an unassisted goal to start a new run. Luke Johnson, Wexler, M. Nice, and Hofmann made it 19 goal lead at the break.
 
Hofmann struck again 2:58 into the third as the Neumann offense showed no signs of slowing. Vincent Corbino, Kiley, Renzo Garone, and Hofmann again, pushed the lead to 24. After Centenary scored with 6:26 left in the quarter, the Knights' Johnson and S. Sykes scored six seconds apart for a 28-3 lead heading into the final period. With the game well in hand, Neumann coasted to victory, with Belotti scoring with 12:26 left.
 
Neumann (6-10, 2-4 Atlantic East) earned the sixth seed in the Atlantic East Conference tournament and will play third seeded Marymount University on Saturday afternoon in the first round.
