ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season with a 16-1 win over Centenary University on Wednesday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
The Knights had 10 different players score in the win.
Jayana Murray and
Alison Mallon each netted three goals.
Cionni Warrington and
Ainsley George each had two goals and an assist. George's points were the first of her collegiate career.
Maggie Blemings handed out three assists while adding a goal.
Maggie Kirchner also tallied her first collegiate goal.
Lauren Carson,
Maggie Miller,
Brynn Adams and
Lindsey Fagan wrapped up the scoring for the Knights.
Catriona Corrigan made seven saves in net for the win. Mallon picked up seven draw controls.
Fagan opened the scoring 1:06 into the contest. Carson scored almost two minutes later for an early 2-0 lead. The Cyclones won the next draw control and came right down the field for their lone goal of the game, and a 2-1 score. Mallon answered with two goals in 19 seconds and a 4-1 advantage. Neumann kept the pressure on and led 8-1 after the first quarter.
Neumann scored three goals in the second quarter. George scored her first collegiate goal with 4:27 on the clock while Kirchner put the Knights up by 10 with 18 seconds left in the first half.
As the teams were preparing to start the second half, lightning struck, and the field had to be cleared. After 1:30 delay, the teams came back out for the second half.
The Knights tallied three goals in the third and two in the fourth as the clock ran to give Neumann the 16-1 win.
Neumann (11-5, 3-3 Atlantic East) will be the No. 4 seed in the postseason and will host Immaculata on Saturday in a first round contest.
