SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team lead from the start en route to an 11-3 win at Marywood University on Thursday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
 
Jonathan Baker went 7.0 innings on the mound for the win. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out five. Aidan Jackson and Jack Valentine went the eighth and ninth innings and each allowed a run on two hits.
 
The Knights started quickly. Nick Glebocki and Shawn Vega led off the game with back-to-back hits. Chris Balshuweit followed with a two-run single for and early 2-0 lead.
 
In the fourth, the first three batters reached for Neumann. Glebocki put the ball in play and reached on an error that allowed all three runners to score and give the Knights a 5-0 lead.
 
Neumann added five runs in the eighth. Isaiah Payton and Vega each hit two-run doubles. Balshuweit reached on an error that allowed Glebocki to score for a 10-1 game. With the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, Vega singled in Morgan D'Amico.
 
Neumann (15-19, 5-8 Atlantic East) will host Marywood this weekend for a conference doubleheader. Action on Saturday is currently slated to get underway at 12:00 PM.
