ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team honored their 2024 senior class with an emphatic 6-0 win over Penn State Brandywine in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights got on the board early on, in the seventh minute as
Chloe Britton took a cross from
Riley Adinolfi and powered in her first goal of the season for a 1-0. Six minutes later,
Kaia Foss rattled a shot off the crossbar and after a rebound save,
Catherine Miller nudged in her fourth of the year, doubling the Neumann advantage.
In the 23
rd minute,
Jaclyn Burmood was tripped inside of the 18-yard box, and the Knights were awarded a penalty shot. Adinolfi was chosen to take the shot and tucked it inside the post for a three goal lead that would last into the halftime break.
Neumann would continue the offensive pressure to start the second half and, in the 61
st minute,
Morghan Stiles sent a corner kick to the head of
Anna Poehlmann who knocked it past the goalkeeper. Three minutes later, Poehlmann struck again, this time from the top of the box for her third of the year.
Ebony Arvelo closed out the scoring in the 67th minute when she banged a shot off the crossbar and in for her third of the year.
Stiles led with seven shots and three on goal. Poehlmann and Miller each had five shot attempts, two each on the goal. Goalkeepers
Alexis Navarro and
Sarah Andreano shared the shutout with neither being forced to make a save.
Neumann(4-4-1) will be back in action on Wednesday when they head to northern New Jersey for their Atlantic East Conference opener against Centenary. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
