POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team opened action at the Vassar Quad by defeating the host 3-1 on Friday evening.
Lauren Garvey continues to lead the Knights, tallying 19 kills and a hitting percentage of .350 in the win.
Regan Hickey added 15 kills and 13 digs.
Claudia Bournazel notched 12 digs.
Dani Smith handed out 42 assists and added 11 digs.
Emma Dobberstein ad 11 digs as well.
The start of the match went back and forth until the Knights took a 13-11 edge and scored 10 straight points for a 23-11 advantage. Neumann took set one 25-12. Set two went back and forth, but Vassar hung on for a 25-22 win to tie the match at one.
The Knights jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the third set. The Brewers pulled to within one, 14-13. Neumann then scored seven of the next nine points for a 20-14 score. Vassar wouldn't go away and pulled within two, 21-19. The Knights answered with four straight points for a 25-19 set three win.
Set four went back and forth from the start. A kill by Hickey put the Knights up 24-22. The Brewers scored the next point but
Anna Mansel sealed the win with a kill and the 25-23 set four win.
Neumann (3-3) continues action in the Vassar Quad tomorrow, facing The University of St. Joseph at 10:00 AM and the University of Hartford at 12:00 PM.
