RYE, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision to Manhattanville College in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest on Saturday evening.
The Knights fell behind at the 4:28 mark of the first period on a Valiants power play goal. With 6:55 left in the period, goal by
Brady Mistler, his fifth of the season.
Luke Croucher picked up the lone assist, as Neumann tied the game up at one. Just over four minutes, later, Manhattanville picked up another power play goal to take a one goal lead into the second.
4:17 into the middle period,
Tyson Rohrer scored his first goal of the year as
Ben Gibbons got the assist to equalize once again. The Valiants took the lead back again five minutes later, then extended it with their third power play goal of the game 1:30 later. With 3:47 left, Gibbons notched his third goal of the season, but that's as close as the Knights would come as the final period went scoreless.
Tyler Kulas led the pack with six shots on goal while
Joe DiGiulio had five. Kulas was also dominant in the face-off circle, winning 21 of his 27 draws. Goaltender,
Cole DeFazio, made 33 saves in suffering the loss.
Neumann (5-12, 5-8 UCHC) will be back in action on Friday night when the host another UCHC rival, Stevenson University. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start at the IceWorks Skating Complex.
