Women’s Soccer Upends Pratt

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team visited the Pratt Institute for the very first time and took down the Cannoneers by a final score of 5-1.

The afternoon didn't start as planned for Neumann as Pratt was able to score on a chip shot just 25 seconds into the match. The Knights responded in the 19th minute when Marisa Nicolucci broke into the box and poked the ball through the goalkeeper for her second goal of the season, tying the game at one. In the 25th minute, a high arcing corner kick landed in the six-yard box and after a scramble, it was scored by Morghan Stiles for her third of the year, giving the Knights the lead. Neumann added on after a Cara Cimo through-ball turned into a breakaway goal for Catherine Miller for her third of the season, sending them to halftime up by two.

The Neumann offense continued to roll as Hannah Dang bounced an outside shot into the net for her fourth of the season, making it 4-1 in the 50th minute. With 19 minutes left, Ebony Arvelo got loose in the box and rolled a shot off the post for her third of the year.

Stiles led the Knights offensively with five shots, three on goal. Nicolucci had four shots, three on goal, while Arvelo, Catherine Miller, and Dang each had both of their shots go on goal. Lex Navarro got the win in goal with three saves.

Neumann (6-8-1, 2-1 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Gwynedd Mercy University for another conference game. It's scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.
