GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team upended Gwynedd Mercy University in an Atlantic East Conference game, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.
In the 16
th minute, a Neumann free kick was served into the box and was cleared right out but
Hannah Dang blasted a shot from 25 yards out for her five goal of the season and a 1-0 Knights lead. That advantage held through the halftime break and deep into the second half. With 10 minutes left,
Jaclyn Burmood was awarded a free kick. She rolled it into the box from distance and it landed at the feet of
Julianna Hatt who deposited it in the net for her team-leading seventh of the season.
In addition to their goal, Dang and Hatt led the Knights with three shots on goal each. Hatt took a total of six shots.
Cara Cimo also had a shot on goal.
Kiki Soto earned her second shutout of the season with four saves.
Neumann (7-8-1, 3-1 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Wednesday for their Breast Cancer Awareness Game against Immaculata University. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
