ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team scored early and often against Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon on their way to a dominant 7-0 Atlantic East Conference win.
The scoring got started in the seventh minute when
Jake Kuzmick slipped a pass to
Alex Duopu who put it home for the early 1-0 lead. In the 28th minute, Duopu found a loose ball in the box and scored his second of the game and sixth of the season to double the advantage.
Four minutes into the second half, the Knights were awarded a penalty shot and
Connor Ryan made no mistake as he scored his first of the season for a 3-0 lead. In the 55
th minute, a goal kick got away from the Griffins and
Jon Zubert nudged in his first goal of the season, extending the lead to four.
Vince Landis made it 5-0 when he ripped a shot from the left side of the box past the goalkeeper for his first of the year. Two minute later,
Alex Pobre received a slick pass from
Nick LoBiondo and scored his first of the year.
Aiden Conover closed out the game with his second of the season in the 77
th minute.
Duopu scored on both of his shots while Kuzmick took three shots with two on goal.
Matt Randall got the start in goal and was not tested in his 68 minutes.
AJ Henry mopped up and made one save.
Neumann (7-5-4, 4-0 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Immaculata in the penultimate game of the season. The Atlantic East Conference match-up will get started at 7:00 PM.
