ABINGTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Tennis team dropped a 6-1 match on Saturday afternoon against Penn State Abington.
Neumann got off to a strong start by sweeping the doubles portion of the day. The first doubles team of
Daniel Bonowski and
Jason Petrin came back from 4-1 and 5-3 deficits to take their set, 7-5. The second pairing of
Joe Troilo and
Anthony Carpinella won in a 7-6 tiebreaker, winning the final three points for a 7-4 tiebreaker score.
James Leuzzi and
Adam Barisa had little trouble in a 6-4 set.
Conversely, the Nittany Lions won all six singles matches to take the day. Troilo, in the third singles match led 5-2 in the first set but fell in the tiebreaker 7-5. Leuzzi forced a tiebreaker in his first set, won the second set 6-4, but couldn't take the tiebreaker set. Barisa dropped the first set but won the second, 7-6, 8-6 in the tiebreaker, and fell in the third.
Neumann (0-3) will return to the court on Saturday, October 26
th when they visit Eastern University for an 11:00 AM start.
