ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team defeated FDU-Florham in a non-conference match on Wednesday night by a final score of 1-0.
The first half went scoreless as Neumann was outshot by a 4-3 margin. Both offenses stepped up in the second half as both teams combined for 22 shots. The Knights had the advantage, 14-8 and led in shots on goal 6-4. In total, Neumann out cornered the Devils 7-1.
With just over two minutes left in the game,
Hunter Rolles intercepted a pass and pushed the ball ahead to
Jake Kuzmick. He followed with a square pass to
Nick LoBiondo who streaked up the right side of the box and laid a pass across the six-yard box to
Luke Mejia. He wasted no time in slamming home his first goal of the season, giving the Knights the game-winner.
Jon Zubert led the Knights with five shots, one on goal. Mejia had both of his shots hit the cage and
Zion Atta-Krah took two shots as well with one going on net.
Carson Metzger made five saves in net for the win.
Neumann (3-4-4) will be back in action on Wednesday, October 9
th at Centenary University for their first Atlantic East Conference match of the season. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
