READING, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team held off Albright College 57-52 on Tuesday evening in a non-conference match-up.
Lauren Klieber led the Knights with 18 points, going 15-for-16 from the line.
Aubrie Breisblatt scored 16 points.
Emily DuPont notched a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
The game came to the final minute when the teams were knotted at 49. Klieber hit four free throws before Albright came back with a three-pointer for a one-point game, 53-52. In the final 19 seconds, Klieber again hit four free throws, going 8-for-8 from the line in the final minute, for the 57-53 win.
Jacqueline Wardrop hit the first basket of the game before the Lions took control of the first quarter, leading by as many as six. The Knights went on a 13-4 run to end the quarter and took a 17-14 edge at the first break.
The Knights scored the first three points of the second quarter for a 20-14 advantage. Neumann held a nine-point lead, 28-19, with 2:19 left before halftime and took a 28-23 edge into halftime.
The Knights held the lead throughout the third quarter and took a 44=36 lead into the final 10 minutes. Albright slowly shipped its way into Neumann's lead and with 56 seconds on the clock tied the game at 49 to lead to the exciting final minute.
Neumann (3-1) returns home on Thursday to host Haverford College beginning at 7:00 PM.
