Men’s Hockey Wins Back and Forth Battle in Overtime

PITTSTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team won a back-and-forth battle at King's College (Pa.) on Friday evening in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game.
 
Lucas Culhane tallied two goals and an assist for the Knights. Cole DeFazio made 31 saves in net.
 
The teams traded goals throughout the game. Ater King's opened the scoring, Sonny DiNubile scored his first collegiate goal 23 seconds later to tie the game at one. Dexton Mozell and PJ Demitrio tallied the assists. The Monarchs scored a shorthanded goal to take back the lead. This time, the Knights answered 22 seconds later with a power play goal as Max Donohoe scored off an assist from Zack Smith. The teams went into the first intermission knotted at two.
 
Each team scored once in the second period. The Monarchs scored five minutes into the period. Tyler Inlow tied the game at three with 3:25 left before intermission. Culhane and Tyler Kennedy tallied the assists.
 
Mozell gave the Knights their first lead of the game 43 seconds into the period for a 4-3 score. Cameron Hatziioannou drew the assist. King's tied the game just over a minute later. Culhane netted his first goal of the game midway through the period for a 5-4 advantage. Kennedy and DiNubile notched the helpers.
 
Just before the buzzer ended regulation, King's was able to score and send the game to overtime.
 
Culhane scored his second goal of the game with 1:58 left in overtime to give Neumann the 6-5 win over King's Luke Croucher drew the assist on the game-winner.
 
Neumann (3-0-2, 3-0-2 MAC) and King's will meet again tomorrow in Pittston. Face-off is slated for 4:00 PM.
