BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team battled in a 3-1 loss at Moravian University on Wednesday evening.
Nayeli Cruz led the Knights with 13 kills while
Melissa Eddy and
Bri Gautier each added 11.
Dani Smith handed out 42 assists and 31 digs. Eddy tallied 17 digs.
Jenna Jones added 13 digs and six service aces.
Hannah Strohm finished with 11 digs.
The teams went back and forth in all the sets. Two kills late by
Taylor Long in set one tied the set at 24. The Greyhounds tallied the last two points for the 26-24 set one win.
The Knights jumped out to a 12-3 lead in set two. Leading 24-18, Moravian scored five straight points to pull within one, 24-23. Neumann was able to take advantage of a Greyhound attack error to win set two 25-23.
With Moravian leading 24-13 in set three, Neumann rallied for nine straight points to pull within two, 24-22. The Greyhounds recovered and took the next point for the 25-22 win.
With the Knights leading 15-10, Moravian scored nine of the next 10 points to take a 19-16 advantage. The Greyhounds scored five of the final seven points to take the set 25-21 and match 3-1.
Neumann (12-16) wraps up the regular season on Saturday as it hosts Stockton and Salisbury in a tri-match. Action gets underway at 10:00 AM.
