ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team defeated Delaware Valley University in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 75-60.
Two minutes into the game, and with the score even at four, Neumann went on their first significant run and took 10-4 lead. Although that stretch was interrupted by a Delaware Valley three, the Knights went right back to work with a nine-point run, taking a 19-7 lead with 4:29 left in the first. The teams traded points for the rest of the quarter. The Aggies put up the first four points of the second, but the Knights answered with a dominating 17-point push with all points scored by either
Aubrie Breisblatt or
Emily DuPont, giving Neumann a 43-21 lead at the break.
Throughout the third, Delaware Valley was kept at bay as they pulled within 24 with 5:54 left in the quarter. Neumann would score eight of the next 10 points to make it a 30-point edge just 90 seconds later. The Aggies put together a 5-2 run to close the period down by 27. In the fourth, Delaware Valley tried to get back into the game with a 13-4 stretch over the first six minutes. They closed with a 10-point run but could not threaten a full comeback.
Breisblatt led the Knights with a career-high 25-point performance, adding seven rebounds. DuPont followed with her own standout effort of 21 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Both
Lauren Klieber and
Jacqueline Wardrop added nine points each.
Neumann (6-4) will be back in action on Tuesday when they visit Eastern University in another non-conference game. The opening tip is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
