READING, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team used 11 different scores as they took down Penn State Berks in a non-conference game on Monday night by a final score of 72-29.
After giving up the first bucket, Neumann scored the next ten points and forced a Penn State Berks timeout just 2:48 into the game. The Knights continued to roll as they would score 20 more points without giving up a score, taking a 30-2 lead into the second quarter. Over the first five minutes of the quarter, the Nittany Lions tried to claw back into the game with a 7-4 run, but Neumann extended the lead with a 15-2 stretch to close the first half with a 49-11 lead.
To start the third quarter, the Nittany Lions scored four of the first six points, but the Knights went on another run of 10. After a quick 6-0 push from Penn State Berks, the Knights notched the last two points for a 63-21 lead heading into the final quarter. Neumann would coast from there as they would trade baskets throughout the final period.
Lauren Klieber led the Knights with a double-double, picking up 17 points and 12 rebounds, along with four assists, all team highs.
Emily DuPont notched 14 points to go with four rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals, in a balanced performance.
Aubrie Breisblatt and
Elaina Guerzon had eight points each. First years,
Nora Brady,
Abby Bash, and
Emma Pfeiffer all grabbed the first points of their collegiate career with five, three, and two points, respectively.
Neumann (5-3) will be back on the court on Saturday when they host York College. The opening tip for the non-conference game is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
