HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team got back in the win column with an 85-79 win at Haverford College on Saturday afternoon.
Bryan Etienne led the Knights with 22 points and nine rebounds.
Gary Francis netted 18 points.
DJ Earl tallied 12,
TJ Lewis 11 and
Mike Smith, III added 10.
The first 10 minutes featured five tied scores and five lead changes. Knotted at 18, the Knights scored six straight points. Neumann built a lead as large as 11 in the half, 42-31, and took a seven-point advantage, 42-35, into the break.
With 14:31 on the clock in the second half, the Knights built a 14-point lead, 57-43, on a dunk by Etienne. The Fords began to chip their way into the lead and with 6:49 remaining pulled within two, 69-67. Neumann responded with the next three baskets to go back up by eight, 75-67. A four-point game in the final minute, 80-76, the Knights went 5-for-6 from the line to seal the win.
Neumann (8-4) will take some time off for the holiday. The Knights return to action on December 29 when they face Lehigh in an exhibition game. Neumann returns home on December 30 when it hosts Lebanon Valley.
