Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Falls to Marymount

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team dropped a 68-47 decision to the Marymount University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Tuesday night.

The game started slowly as the first points weren't score until 2:06 into the first quarter. Neumann took an early 7-4 lead on the strength of an Emily DuPont jump shot. Marymount closed out the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 13-9 lead into the second.

The Saints continued to push ahead as they scored the first seven points of the second, extending their lead to 11. The Knights went on a 6-2 run over a four minute stretch but Marymount closed out the half, netting the final five points, giving them a 12 point lead at the midway point.

The third quarter did not yield different results as the Saints went on a 12-2 run over the first six and a half minutes of the third. Neumann kept pace for the rest of the quarter, but still trailed by a 22 heading into the final period. DuPont started off the fourth with an old school three point play but the Saint continued to control the game, going on an eight point run. Although Neumann closed the game with a six point run, with Keeley Ciszkowski grabbing four point, the deficit was too much to come back from.

Jacqueline Wardrop led the way for Neumann with 15 points. DuPont had 12 point and three steals. Lauren Klieber added seven points and Terea Tourk led with seven rebounds.

Neumann (16-8, 5-4 Atlantic East) will look to close out the regular season with a win when they host Immaculata on Friday night. Tip-off from the Mirenda Center is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
