Men’s Basketball to Host Immaculata in AEC First Round

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team will host Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference first round contest on Monday night.
 
Neumann went 7-5 in conference action and will be the No. 4 seed in the postseason. Immaculata finished 6-6 for the No. 5 seed.
 
In the other first round game, No. 6 Cabrini travels to No. 3 Marywood. Marymount earned the No. 1 seed while Gwynedd Mercy is the No. 2 seed.
 
The Knights defeated the Mighty Macs in the two regular season meetings, including the past Friday. At Immaculata on January 13, Neumann won 78-67. Jalen Vaughns led five Knights in double-digits with 21 points. TJ Lewis tallied 18 points. Jarell Keel had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. He also went 10-for-10 from the free throw line and added four blocked shots. Kyle Thompson netted 11-points, and Amari Little added 10.
 
This past Friday, the Knights came back for a 67-64 win to clinch a home playoff game. Lewis scored his 1,000th career point in the game, finishing with 16. Keel tallied a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds while adding three blocks. Thompson netted 12 points and Uche Unegbu added 10.
 
On the season, Vaughns leads the Knights, averaging 21.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Lewis is adding 14.7 points per game while Thompson is averaging 11.5. Keel is contributing 7.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
 
Action is slated to get underway at 8:00 PM on Monday. The winners on Monday head to Marymount or Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday evening for semifinal action. The winners on Wednesday will meet on Saturday for the 2024 Atlantic East Championship at the highest remaining seed.
