WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team wrapped up the 2024 season with a split at a tri-match on Saturday. The Knights fell to host Wilkes University 3-0 before defeating Bryn Athyn College 3-0.
Against Wilkes,
Trey Edmonds finished with 14 kills.
Dan Barckholtz handed out 25 assists.
Brandon Baskerville tallied seven digs.
The first set started back and forth before the Colonels took control and the 25-15 set one win. Down by one, 13-12, in set two, Neumann and Wilkes traded points all the way to the end of the set. Unable to get two points in a row, the Knights fell 25-23. While leading 6-4 in set three, the Colonels scored eight straight points for a 12-6 advantage. Wilkes tallied the final four points for the 25-17 set three and 3-0 match win.
Against the Lions,
JP Perdomo tallied 14 kills and Edmonds added 11. Barckholtz dished out 31 assists.
Christian Johnson finished with nine digs and Baskerville added seven.
The teams opened the set by trading points. Tied at five, the Knights went on to score seven straight points for a 12-5 lead. A Lions bad set gave Neumann the 25-13 set one win.
Neumann opened set two by scoring the first seven points. A Perdomo kill, two Perdomo service aces and a kill by Edmonds sealed the 25-5 set two win.
The Lions were not going quietly and put up a fight in the third set. With the Knights leading 23-18, Bryn Athyn scored five of the next six points before a kill by Edmonds gave Neumann the 25-23 set and 3-0 match win.
Neumann finishes its season 14-9 overall and 1-1 in the first season in the Atlantic East Conference.
