SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped a pair of Atlantic East Conference games at Marywood University on Thursday afternoon. Game scores were 8-1 and 3-2.
In game one, the Pacers jumped out early, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Knights got on the board in the fifth as
Thomas Elgrim reached on an error and scored in a single by
Nick Glebocki.
Vic Mejia started the game on the mound and went. 4.0 innings. He allowed six runs, four earned, on six hits.
Gatlin Hovenstine went 2.0 innings and allowed two runs on two hits.
In game two, Marywood struck first again with a run in the first. Neumann answered right back in the top of the second as
Andrew Curran led off with a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Elgrim.
The Pacers took back the lead with a run in the bottom half of the second and plated another run in the fourth for a 3-1 score. The Knights cut the lead to one in the sixth as
AJ Nardo scored on a single by Curran. Neumann had the bases loaded but could not take advantage of the base runners.
Aidan Jackson started the game and went 6.0 innings. He allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits and struck out four.
Jack Valentine pitched two scoreless, hitless innings and struck out three.
Neumann (9-10, 0-5 Atlantic East) will host Marywood on Tuesday in the third game of the conference series beginning at 3:30 PM.
