ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team fell in a pair of games against DeSales University on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs won by scores of 4-1 and 5-2.
In game one, DeSales scored all four runs in the fourth inning, two being unearned. The Knights plated a run in the bottom of the seventh as
Emily Ammon knocked in
Elizabeth Shire. Neumann had runners on second and third with one out but could not get any more runs across.
Courtney McKenna started the game and went 4.0 innings. She allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits.
Sydney Wright pitched the final three innings and allowed three hits.
In game two, the Bulldogs struck early with a run in the first. DeSales then added four more in the third for a 5-0 lead.
The Knights got on the board in the home half of the third. With two outs, Ammon and
Cioni Simmons singled and came around to score on a double by
Kristen Pagliaro.
Ang Sannicandro started the game and went 2+ innings.
Olivia Ammon pitched five innings in relief.
Neumann (8-20) will host Elizabethtown on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM. Prior to the games, the Knights will honor this year's senior class.
